The CSU Speakers Bureau
Colorado State University is Colorado’s university. As the state’s land-grant university, CSU has a three-pronged mission of providing excellence in education, research and engagement.
At the core of Colorado State University’s land-grant mission is serving Colorado and its communities.
For 140 years, Colorado State University has partnered with the communities of Colorado to provide a link between CSU’s resources and the citizens of this great state. Through Colorado State University Extension, the Agricultural Experiment Station, Colorado State Forest Service, 4-H, distance education and many other programs, the university diligently and effectively works to meet needs in every community.
The CSU Speakers Bureau is an extension of this commitment to engage and serve citizens in all areas of the state by providing expert resources to address local needs and interests.
What is the CSU Speakers Bureau?
The Colorado State University Speakers Bureau is a public service offered to Colorado communities by Colorado State University. The Speakers Bureau provides faculty, researchers, staff, administrators and notable alumni from CSU who are available to present across a wide range of topic areas representing the breadth of the university to audiences across Colorado.
What is the cost?
Having a CSU Speaker present to your organization is free – the experts volunteer their time. However, please note that organizations located more than 50 miles from the CSU campus in Fort Collins might be asked to reimburse the speaker's travel expenses and/or additional presentation costs. This is evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and depends on a variety of factors. Any costs would be discussed with and approved by the requesting organization in advance.
How often can an organization request a CSU Speaker?
Colorado-based organizations can request CSU Speakers as often as they would like. Please keep in mind, however, that the University will try to balance requests to make certain we can fill as many opportunities with as many organizations throughout the state as possible.
What does the requesting organization need to provide?
This can vary depending on specific requests, but in general, CSU Speakers ask the hosting organizations to:
- Promote the event locally, including the reference, “This presentation is made possible by Colorado State University” or something similar acknowledging CSU.
- Provide an estimate of participants.
- Provide as much information as possible regarding the organization and makeup of the audience to allow the speaker to target remarks as appropriate.
- Introduce the speaker. CSU will provide a short bio.
- Provide any necessary AV equipment.
- Complete a feedback survey within one week following the event.
Upon completing a request, CSU’s Community Relations Coordinator will contact the requesting organization to address these points and other specifics.
