Environmental Learning Center Gift Shop Proceeds to Benefit Raptors

The gift shop at Colorado State University’s Environmental Learning Center will be open Wednesdays, Fridays and weekends through September with all proceeds going to support Colorado State’s Raptor Program.

Hours for the shop, located on the center’s grounds at Drake Road and County Highway 9, will be 3-6 p.m. Wednesday and Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Volunteers from the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program will operate the shop. The facility also includes interpretive displays on historical and natural history aspects of the Environmental Learning Center.

Merchandise includes T-shirts, jewelry, zoo books, notecards, bookmarks and magnets. All proceeds support injured birds of prey housed at the center and at the Raptor Program.

The Rocky Mountain Raptor Program, operated largely by volunteers, takes in injured birds-of-prey and, with the services of Colorado State’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital, rehabilitates and releases them to the wild. Non-releasable birds serve as role models for fledglings and younger birds who can return to the wild.
