Poet to Read from Work at Colorado State University Nov. 5

Prize-winning poet Michael White will read from his latest poetry collection, "Palma Cathedral," at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 on the Colorado State University campus.

The reading will take place in the Hatton Gallery in the Visual Arts Building and will be followed by a reception and book signing. The event is free and open to the public.

"Palma Cathedral" is the winner of the 1998 Colorado Prize for Poetry, an award sponsored by Colorado State’s Center for Literary Publishing and selected by Mark Strand, former poet laureate of the United States.

White has published two other poetry collections, "The Island" and "This Water." His poems have appeared in numerous magazines, including "Ploughshares," "The Paris Review" and "The New Republic," as well as in "The Best American Poetry" anthology. White is an English professor at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and has received fellowships from the North Carolina Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, among others.
