Colorado State University Hosts “A Major Decision” to Help Students Plan for College and Explore Majors

Colorado State University will host an event Feb. 24 for junior high, high school and college students who are interested in exploring majors, student services and extracurricular activities. The event, called "A Major Decision," will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Main Ballroom.

Exhibits will feature each of Colorado State’s eight colleges and many departments. Representatives will be available to answer questions about degree programs, financial aid, student organizations, career opportunities and internships.

"This event reaches out to all students interested in attending Colorado State," said Becky Thomas, chairwoman of "A Major Decision" planning committee. "Northern Colorado junior high and high school students and their parents are invited to investigate how to put Colorado State University into their long-term plans. ‘A Major Decision’ also will benefit currently enrolled students who are in the midst of making academic and career decisions."

As part of the event, the HELP/Success Center and the Career Center will administer interest questionnaires, which help identify potential majors. After completing the brief questionnaires, students will be encouraged to visit departmental booths that match their interests.

Free, lighted parking is available in the Lory Student Center and the Moby Arena parking lots. Free shuttles will run from the north end of Moby Arena parking lot to the Lory Student Center.

The university departments involved in planning "A Major Decision" include the Offices of the Provost/Academic Vice President; the Vice President for Student Affairs; Admissions; Conference Services; Summer Sessions; Publications and Printing; Financial Aid and the HELP/Success Center.
