Colorado State University Office of International Programs to Conduct Culture and Language Awareness Program for Children

Local children will have the opportunity to experience different languages and cultures this summer when Colorado State University’s Office of International Programs opens its doors to the second annual Culture and Language Awareness Program.

From June 22 through July 30, the program will offer two, three-week sessions for children ages 4 to 9 years old. Chinese, English as a second language and Spanish will be taught in an interactive format. Classes will cover basic vocabulary such as colors, numbers and greetings. Language classes are held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. for children ages 4-6 years, and 11 a.m.-noon for ages 7-9 years.

This year’s program will include an afternoon "multicultural activity" class on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1-3 p.m. In these sessions, children will learn about different cultures through games, music stories, craft making and cooking. Each class will feature a different "culture of the day."

The program fee is $35 for community members and $25 for Colorado State student families. Deadline for registration is June 15. Space is limited to 15 children per class, so early registration is recommended.
