Colorado State University Announces Fall Commencement Activities

Colorado State University will present diplomas to fall 1999 graduates at individual college ceremonies Dec. 17 and 18.

Diplomas will be given to 1,379 undergraduates and 393 graduate students, of which 64 are doctoral students. Sixteen students will graduate summa cum laude, 41 will graduate magna cum laude and 83 students will graduate cum laude. Following is a list of graduation speakers, starting times and locations for each college.

Dec. 17

  • ROTC Commissioning–Commencement exercises begin at 3 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Theatre.
  • Graduate School–speaker: Albert I. Meyers, chemistry professor. Colorado State President Albert C. Yates will confer degrees and G.C. "Chuck" Mabry, member of the State Board of Agriculture, will provide concluding remarks. Commencement exercises begin at 7:30 p.m. in Moby Arena.

Dec. 18

  • College of Natural Sciences–speaker: Alexander E. Bracken, vice president of public affairs, facilities and support services for Ball Aerospace and Technologies Corporation. Colorado State Provost Loren W. Crabtree will confer degrees. Commencement exercises begin at 8:30 a.m. in Moby Arena.
  • College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences–speaker: Kenneth Blehm, associate professor of environmental health. John Scully, Colorado State vice president for University Advancement, will confer degrees. Commencement exercises begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Lory Student Center Main Ballroom.
  • College of Liberal Arts–speaker: Bill Hervey, academic advisor in the College of Liberal Arts. John Scully, vice president for University Advancement, will confer degrees. Commencement exercises begin at noon in Moby Arena.
  • College of Natural Resources–speaker: William Alldredge, fish and wildlife biology professor. Albert Yates, president of Colorado State, will confer degrees. Commencement exercises begin at noon in the Lory Student Center Main Ballroom.
  • College of Agricultural Sciences–speaker: David E. Hartley, regional product manager for Paaul Ecke Ranch. President Albert Yates will confer degrees. Commencement exercises begin at 3:30 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Main Ballroom.
  • College of Applied Human Sciences–Keith Miser, Colorado State vice president for Student Affairs, will confer degrees and give the charge to the class. Commencement exercises begin at 3:30 p.m. in Moby Arena.
  • College of Business–speaker: Dave Duke, president and CEO of Duke Communications and Stephanie Gallegos, senior class speaker. Judson M. Harper, Colorado State vice president for research and information technology, will confer degrees; and Richard D. Johnson, associate professor in the College of Business, will give the charge to the class. Commencement exercises begin at 7 p.m. in Moby Arena.
  • College of Engineering–speaker: Mary E. Peery, general manager of the Greeley Hardcopy Division of Hewlett Packard. Presentation of key rings will be made by Darell Zimmerman of the Colorado State Alumni Association. Commencement exercises begin at 7 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Main Ballroom.
