Colorado State University students from the Department of Design and Merchandising will have a chance to show off their original designs at the 28th annual student fashion show March 27 and 28.

The event will be at 8 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Ballroom on campus. Tickets cost $4 for students and $8 for nonstudents and will be sold at the door, at the box office starting March 14 and at the Lory Student Center Flea Market on March 23 and 24. A pre-show reception begins at 6 p.m. March 27. Cost is $25 and includes reserved seating at that evening’s show.

At the show, 39 students will model 162 garments created by 36 student designers. The garments are placed in categories including formal wear, cocktail, club wear, wearable art and casual wear.

Some participants will show garments created with the benefit of the department’s new state-of-the-art computer-aided design systems. The computer software and hardware arrived last fall as a $3.2 million gift from Lectra Systems to the Department of Design and Merchandising within the College of Applied Human Sciences. Lectra Systems is the worldwide leader in computer aided design and computer-aided manufacturing systems for apparel.

A panel of professionals in the fashion industry will evaluate each garment based on construction, quality and design technique. At the show, awards will be given in each category as well as awards for best construction and best of show.
