Colorado State University will host a holiday party on Dec. 13 for Fort Collins families participating in Evenstart, a family literacy program that helps provide educational opportunities to low-income families.

Families will gather from 5-7 p.m. in the North Ballroom of the Lory Student Center on campus. Organizers expect about 200 people to attend the event. A Colorado State student dressed as Santa will be on hand and families will enjoy games, gifts, crafts and dinner. Students in the Department of Manufacturing Technology and Construction Management have constructed dozens of wooden toys and games to distribute at the party.

Photo opportunities include children decorating cookies, playing games and making snow globes and reindeer hats.

Evenstart is a partnership between Colorado State’s College of Applied Human Sciences and Poudre School District. About 25 students from the College of Applied Human Sciences College Council helped organize the event.
