Colorado State University Promotes Benefits of Physical Activity to Youth Through Summer Sport Camps

Providing practical hands-on, feet-on, arms-on and legs-on experience is what the Colorado State University 2001 Youth Sport Camps are all about.

Coordinated by Colorado State’s Department of Health and Exercise Science, the sport camps promote the benefits of physical activity and healthy lifestyles for youth in the community. The camps partner children with Colorado State graduates and undergraduates majoring in health and exercise science. Instructors are trained to apply sound teaching and coaching principles that emphasize personal success and fun for each camper.

Sport camps for baseball, basketball, tennis, softball, volleyball and soccer will be held during a variety of sessions in June, July and August. The first sessions are scheduled to begin June 11 for softball, baseball and the Super Sports Camp, which incorporates a variety of activities including floor hockey, badminton, track and field, flag football and racquetball.

Full-day camp sessions run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost for tennis camp is $40 per session. All other camps cost $120 per week. Preregistering for the sport camps entitles customers to a $5 per week discount. The deadline for preregistration is May 4. Regular registration runs from May 5 through the first day of each camp. To obtain a registration form or for more information, contact the Department of Health and Exercise Science at (970) 491-6318.
