Colorado State University Announces Fall 2001 Commencement Activities

Colorado State University will confer degrees on fall 2001 graduates at individual college ceremonies Dec. 14 and 15.

Diplomas will be given to 1,336 undergraduates and 279 graduate students, of which 52 are doctoral students. Eighteen students are summa cum laude, 38 will graduate magna cum laude and 72 will graduate cum laude. Following is a list of commencement speakers, starting times and locations for each college.

Dec. 14

  • ROTC Commissioning – speaker: retired Lt. Col. A. Clark Welch, U.S. Army. Commencement exercises begin at 3 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Theatre.
  • Graduate School – speaker: Carol Blair, professor and chairwoman in the Department of Microbiology and associate dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Colorado State President Albert C. Yates will confer degrees and Reginald Washington, president of the State Board of Agriculture, will provide concluding remarks. Commencement exercises begin at 7:30 p.m. in Moby Arena.

Dec. 15

  • College of Agricultural Sciences – speaker: Ken Barbarick, University Distinguished Teaching Scholar and professor in the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences. Anthony Frank, vice president for research and information technology, will confer degrees and Patrick Grant, member of the State Board of Agriculture, will give the charge to the class. Commencement exercises begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Lory Student Center Main Ballroom.
  • College of Applied Human Sciences – speaker: Dean Nancy Hartley. Gerry Bomotti, vice president for administrative services, will confer degrees and Matt Hickey, associate professor, Department of Health and Exercise Science, will give the charge to the class. Commencement exercises begin at 8:30 a.m. in Moby Arena.
  • College of Engineering – speaker: Jennifer Hopkins, vice president and general manager, Global Solutions Business Unit, Agilent Technologies. Rocky Wiley, president, Engineering Development Board, will present key rings and Anthony Frank, vice president for research and information technology, will give the charge to the class. Commencement exercises begin at noon in the Lory Student Center Main Ballroom.
  • College of Business – speaker: Colorado Secretary of Technology Marc Holtzman. President Yates will confer degrees and give the charge to the class. Commencement exercises begin at noon in Moby Arena.
  • College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences – speaker: John Reif, professor and head of the Department of Environmental Health. President Yates will confer degrees. Commencement exercises begin at 3:30 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Main Ballroom.
  • College of Natural Sciences – speaker: Frank J. Vattano, University Distinguished Teaching Scholar and professor in the Department of Psychology. Thomas W. Sneider, interim dean of the College of Natural Sciences, will confer degrees. Commencement exercises begin at 3:30 p.m. in Moby Arena.
  • College of Natural Resources – speaker: John Wiens, professor, Department of Biology. Interim Provost A. Allen Dyer will confer degrees and give the charge to the class. Commencement exercises begin at 7 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Main Ballroom.
  • College of Liberal Arts – speaker: Ronny Turner, professor in the Department of Sociology. Vice President for Student Affairs Linda Kuk will confer degrees. Commencement exercises begin at 7 p.m. in Moby Arena.
