Colorado State Offers Transportation to Inaugural Event to Hear Sen. John Glenn at Du’s Ritchie Center

Colorado State University has arranged to provide transportation to Denver for the inaugural event for "Bridges to the Future," a joint effort of Colorado State and the University of Denver.

Bus spaces are open to community members as well as students, faculty and staff on a first-come, first-served basis for the event, featuring John Glenn, former U.S. Senator and astronaut, as well as Colorado Gov. Bill Owens and President Albert C. Yates of Colorado State and Chancellor Daniel Ritchie of the University of Denver.

The deadline for community members to reserve a space is Friday, Sept. 20. (Complete information is below.) The event is set for Sept. 23 and begins at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. and parking is free in unrestricted lots at the University of Denver. Colorado State and the University of Denver are partners in "Bridges to the Future: American History and Values in Light of Sept. 11th," a yearlong, statewide effort to encourage exploration and greater understanding of American history and values. This innovative collaboration aims to create a framework of quality programs and stimulating engagements to inspire the communities of Colorado and our campuses to remember, to understand and to renew or reframe our most fundamental public value commitments.

Endorsed by Colorado Governor Bill Owens as an important chance to unite the people of Colorado in exploring American history and values, "Bridges to the Future" will welcome major international speakers, host spirited local discussions, and enjoy a wide range of events from many different perspectives.

Bus transportation from Fort Collins:

Fort Collins community members – Reservations will be taken until Friday, Sept. 20. For reservations and information, contact Somer Gomez at 970-491-4601 or somerg@lamar.colostate.edu. Please plan to arrive for departure from the Senior Center (1200 Raintree, Fort Collins) by 5 p.m. for an on-time departure of 5:15 p.m. on Sept. 23. Buses will return to the Senior Center after the Inaugural Event.

CSU campus community: The bus package for the CSU campus community includes a free barbeque with representatives from the University of Denver student government. Reservations will be taken until Friday, Sept. 20. For reservations and information, contact the Lory Student Center Information Desk at 970-491-6444. Please plan to arrive for departure from the west Moby parking lot at by 3:15 p.m. for an on-time departure of 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 23. Buses will return to the Moby lot after the Inaugural Event.
