Colorado State Releases Latest Municipal Water Regulations

Colorado State University Cooperative Extension released on April 22 the latest information about municipal water restrictions, including newly implemented restrictions for the spring. The information, which is updated through a collaboration with municipal utilities primarily along the Front Range, is available online at www.drought.colostate.edu as a concise, single source of information about current municipal water restrictions and guidelines for homeowners and gardeners.

The information outlines current municipal water regulations information for the end of April and the first three weeks of May. Specific information includes guidelines and restrictions for new sod, trees, shrubs, vegetable and flower gardens and established lawns for each municipality. The site also outlines fine and fee structures established by cities as well as permit requirements and waiver options.

The information will be updated the beginning of the third week of each month through at least October. The site includes watering information for people who live in virtually all municipalities along the Front Range from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs. The program likely will be expanded to include more cities during the spring and summer.
