Catering Department at Colorado State University’s Lory Student Center Wins National Dining Award

Colorado State University’s Lory Student Center Catering Department was honored with a first place win at the 2003 Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards. The National Association of College and University Food Services sponsors the awards designed to recognize the most successful ideas in menus, presentations, special event planning and new dining concepts. Winning is the ultimate professional tribute in college and university culinary arts.

Jerry Ondaro, director of catering, and his team won in the large school category of "Catering – Special Event" for their efforts at last year’s Poudre Valley Hospital Foundation dinner and fundraiser held at the Equine Center.

"We are extremely honored to have received first place in our classification," Ondaro said. "It is certainly something that is very prestigious and admired by all college and university food services throughout the entire country."

Members of the catering staff who were instrumental in working on the event include Ondaro; Martha Gutierrez, catering coordinator; Kim Larkey, catering chef; Lynn Carr, pantry chef; Monica Burk, catering manager; Dee Tindall, catering supervisor; Norita Henry, special projects manager; and Robert Peters, director of business services.
