Fort Collins 2003 Community Homecoming Begins with 5k Race the Morning of Oct. 4
The 2003 Community Homecoming celebration on Oct. 4 will begin with a 5K race at 8 a.m. on the campus Oval. The free Kids’ Fun Run for kids under 10 years old will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Oval after the 5K.
Registration for the race is $21 prior to race day. Race day registration is $25 and will run from 7:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. on the morning of the race.
All participants will receive either a long-sleeved shirt or t-shirt and will be eligible for prize drawings sponsored by local businesses. The kids’ race is 0.3 mile around the Oval and all finishers will receive a ribbon.
A free runners’ clinic sponsored by A Step Ahead Foot & Ankle Center will be held at the Oval following the race.
Top level (gold level) race sponsors include Colorado State University Youth Sport Camps, RE/MAX and Triple Crown Sports. Silver level race sponsors include First National Bank and Poudre Valley Health System. Bronze level race sponsors include Heart Center of the Rockies, Smith Investments, Inc., Norlarco Credit Union, Miramont Sports Center, Pinnacle Mortgage Alliance, Progressive Living Structures, Inc., Higley Foundation, Meurer and Associates, Longevity Center of the Rockies P.C., Markley Motors, Inc., The Gym of the Rockies, Gay and Karan Israel, Orthopedic Center of the Rockies and A Step Ahead Foot and Ankle Center.
Proceeds from the race will go to the Heart Disease Prevention Program of the Human Performance Clinical/Research Laboratory at Colorado State University. The Heart Disease Prevention Program provides screenings for all the risk factors of heart disease. The screening includes personal and family history, a maximal treadmill test, an examination by a physician, blood lipid analysis, body composition assessment and much more.
