Local Chapter’s Commitment to Supporting University Garners Award

For outstanding collective efforts, the Logan County Alumni Chapter will be recognized by Colorado State University’s Alumni Association with a special recognition award on May 7.

The award is given by the governing board of the Alumni Association to recognize outstanding support and commitment to the association. The Logan County chapter earned the award through creative projects to enhance the chapter’s support of the university.

In 1996, several members of the chapter formed a committee to promote support to the university and rebuild relationships among graduates through alumni activities. Since then, the organization has raised $70,000, with $60,000 of those funds going to developing and supporting $2,000 scholarships for Logan County students attending Colorado State as freshman or transferring there from another institution. The $10,000 balance was donated to help complete the Fum McGraw building on campus and support Ram athletic scholarships.

The chapter hosts an annual golf tournament, barbeque and auction as fundraisers. The event is sponsored by more than 70 local businesses and the golf tournament now

boasts a waiting list for participation. The barbeque after the tournament is attended by more than 250 friends and alumni.

Committee members are Marc Reck, Bob Blach, Mike Grauberger, Steve Meier, Larry Morgan, Gary Nichols, Renaud Notaro and Joe Patterson.
