Colorado State University Announces Fall 2004 Commencement Activities

Colorado State University will confer degrees on fall 2004 graduates at individual college ceremonies Dec. 17 and 18.

Diplomas will be awarded to 1,369 undergraduates and 292 graduate students, of which 51 are doctoral candidates. Ten students will graduate summa cum laude, 34 will graduate magna cum laude and 55 will graduate cum laude. Nine ROTC cadets will be commissioned.

Following is a list of commencement ceremony times, locations and speakers for each college.

Dec. 17

– Air Force ROTC Commissioning – 1:30 p.m., Lory Student Center Main Ballroom.

– Graduate School – 3 p.m., Moby Arena.

Speaker: Kent J. Smith Jr., dean of students at Auburn University. President Larry Edward Penley will confer degrees. A. Fred Kerst, member of the Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System, will provide concluding remarks.

– College of Engineering – 7 p.m., Lory Student Center Main Ballroom.

Speaker: Fred W. Smith, professor of mechanical engineering. Diane Evans, member of the Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System, will confer degrees. Vice President Donald Fry will give the charge to the graduates.

– College of Business – 7:30 pm., Moby Arena.

Speaker: Jan R. Horsfall, 2004 College of Business Honor Alumnus. Provost Peter J. Nicholls will confer degrees and give the charge to the class.

Dec. 18

– College of Natural Resources – 9 a.m., Lory Student Center Main Ballroom.

Speaker: John Fielder, nationally renowned photographer, publisher, teacher and preservationist. Dean Joyce Berry will give the welcome, Vice President Linda Kuk will present the class and Jeffrey Shoemaker, vice chair of the Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System, will confer degrees.

– College of Natural Sciences – 9 a.m., Moby Arena.

Speaker: A. Fred Kerst, member of the Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System, will give congratulatory remarks. President Larry Edward Penley will confer degrees and give the charge to the class.

– College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences – 12:30 p.m., Lory Student Center Main Ballroom.

Speaker: Associate Dean Kenneth D. Blehm. Senior Vice President Anthony A. Frank will provide remarks. Diane Evans, a member of the Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System, will confer degrees.

– College of Applied Human Sciences – 12:30 p.m., Moby Arena.

Speaker: Rich Feller, professor in the School of Education. Dean April Mason will give the welcome and present the degree candidates. Fred Kerst, a member of the Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System, will confer degrees.

– Army ROTC Commissioning – 3 p.m., Military Sciences Building.

– College of Agricultural Sciences – 4 p.m., Lory Student Center Main Ballroom.

Speaker: Richard L. Robinson, co-CEO of Robinson Dairy. Interim Vice President Keith Ickes will confer degrees and give the charge to the class. Patrick Grant, member of the Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System, will give the closing remarks.

– College of Liberal Arts – 4 p.m., Moby Arena.

Speaker: Dean Heather Hardy will present the class and give the charge to the class. Senior Vice President Anthony A. Frank will confer degrees.
