Alumni, Public Invited to Meet Colorado State President Penley, University Officials at Receptions

The public and Colorado State University alumni from the Durango and Alamosa area have an opportunity to visit with President Larry Edward Penley and Marc Johnson, vice provost of agriculture and outreach and dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences, as well as other university officials at two receptions hosted by the Colorado State University Alumni Association the evenings of May 23 and 24. Both events are free and open to the public.

     Penley will talk about the role the university plays across the state and throughout the nation, including comments about local partnerships, economic development, research and educational opportunities for citizens.

     In Durango, the reception will be from 5:30 – 7 p.m. on May 23 in the Mesa Verde Room of the Doubletree Hotel, 501 Camino Del Rio.

     In Alamosa, Penley and Johnson will visit with the public from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel of the Rio Grande, 333 Santa Fe Avenue.

     Penley will share remarks at both events at 6:15 p.m., along with Johnson and Marc Shkolnick, executive director of the university’s alumni association. Both evenings will include appetizers and a cash bar, and reservations are requested through the alumni association at (800) 286-ALUM (2586).

     Colorado State has 1,200 alumni in the Durango and Alamosa areas. In addition, the university has several outreach offices for Cooperative Extension, Agricultural Experiment Station and Colorado State Forest Service, all branches of the university in the area.
