Large-Scale Composting Subject of Conference at Colorado State University

Colorado State University will host the Rocky Mountain Compost School, a week-long conference on large-scale composting, from Sept. 18-22 in Fort Collins, for people involved in producing farm-scale or commercial scale compost.

Topics to be covered include the microbiology of composting, the production, monitoring and sampling of compost, markets and regulations, and other selected topics. The information presented in this short course is designed to support the growing compost industry in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain West.  The issues in agricultural and commercial composting related to production in the semi-arid West will be the focus during a daylong field trip to several local compost facilities.

Most sessions will be held at the Agricultural Research and Development Center (ARDEC), just north of Fort Collins.  For more information or to register, go to www.rockymountaincompostschool.info, or call Kierra Jewell at (970) 491-6201.
