Safe Kids Larimer County Coalition and Colorado State University Police Department Host Bicycle Safety Bonanza August 26

The Colorado State University Police Department is partnering with the SAFE KIDS Larimer County Coalition to host a Bicycle Safety Bonanza from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26 in the Moby Arena parking lot.

The event offers fun, educational activities for the entire family including professional helmet fittings, a bike skills rodeo course and giveaway of helmets for toddlers, children and adults. A $5 donation per helmet is requested to support the SAFE KIDS Coalition. Prizes and giveaways also will be included. Several exhibitors will offer additional information and services to parents and children.

"Bike crashes occur every day in our city and we are hoping to raise awareness about the importance of wearing a bike helmet – for everyone on every ride," said Cpl. Jason Meisner of the Colorado State University Police Department.

The Bicycle Safety Bonanza is sponsored by the Colorado State University Police Department, SmartTrips, Recycled Cycles, Lafarge and the SAFE KIDS Coalition. For additional information contact the Colorado State University Police Department at (970) 491-6425 or the SAFE KIDS Coalition at (970) 495-7504.
