Online Exhibition, Â??graphic Responses,’ Part of International Poster Exhibition at Colorado State

Graphic Responses, a special online exhibit, will accompany the 15th biennial Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition display at Colorado State University. This open exhibition showcases visual responses to world events by Colorado State design students and designers from around the world who were invited to share their digital poster designs. The electronic exhibition traditionally reflects a variety of cultural insights, social concerns, political views and graphic commentary. The online show will be available at http://www.colostate.edu/Depts/Art/poster/index.html beginning Sept. 1.

The Graphic Responses online exhibition was initiated in 2003 during the 13th Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition to give artists a way to respond immediately to issues of social concern. The program was expanded for the 14th exhibition to include a competition for students using the electronic format and revealed areas of concern ranging from war to environmental sustainability. This electronic element continues during the 15th poster exhibition, providing a forum for artists to freely express their thoughts.

The 15th Biennial Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition, the only international poster presentation in the United States, runs from Sept. 14-Oct. 19. The exhibition features works by 87 artists from 31 countries reflecting international perspectives on political, social and cultural issues. Posters from the international exhibition’s invited artists will fill the Clara Hatton Gallery in the Visual Arts Building and the Curfman Gallery at Lory Student Center on the main campus of Colorado State. Satellite displays, featuring specific historical and geographic subjects, will be hosted at the Lincoln Center, Front Range Community College, First National Bank Gallery at Colorado State’s Morgan Library, Colorado State’s University Center for the Arts and the Directions and Glass galleries in the Visual Arts Building.
