Colorado State University Rocky Mountain Showdown Festivities in Denver Aug. 31 Â?? Sept. 1

Colorado State University will host several events in Denver Aug. 31-Sept. 1 leading up to the Qwest Rocky Mountain Showdown on Sept. 1 at Invesco Field.

On Aug. 31 from noon – 1 p.m., Colorado State will host a downtown Denver lunchtime Ram Rally. Voice of the Rams Rich Bircumshaw, 9News Sports Anchor Susie Wargin, the CSU Marching band and cheerleaders, CAM the Ram, alums, fans and friends will gather for a downtown Denver Ram Rally at Skyline Park, 1601 Arapahoe St. on the 16th Street Mall. Free lunch by Qdoba will be provided for the first 300 Ram fans.

Guests scheduled to attend the Denver Ram Rally include CSU President Larry Penley, CSU men’s basketball coach Tim Miles, CSU women’s basketball coach Jen Warden, Athletic Director Paul Kowalczyk and former Ram football players.

Ram Rally participants will have the opportunity to win free tickets for the Rocky Mountain Showdown along with other prizes. The event is free and open to the public. For updated information, visit www.rockymountainshowdown.colostate.edu.

Also on Aug. 31, Colorado State will host an after hours Ram Pep Rally beginning at 5:30 p.m. LoDo’s Bar & Grill, 1946 Market St. in downtown Denver. Join the Colorado State Alumni Association, cheerleaders, alums, fans and friends for complimentary appetizers and a cash bar. Some CSU celebrities will be in attendance.

On Sept. 1, Ram fans are invited to attend a pre-game tailgate at Invesco Field. The CSU tailgate party will be from 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. under the tent in the northwest parking lot of Invesco Field. Other Colorado State events leading up to the Rocky Mountain Showdown include:

– The alumni associations from Colorado State and CU are squaring off for the first ever Rocky Mountain Membership Showdown.  The Alumni Association that recruits the most new members during the month of August and up until game time on Sept. 1 wins. Colorado State’s Alumni Association membership drive is open to everyone. – Friday, Aug. 24: Rams at the Rockies. Join fellow Ram alums and fans to watch the Colorado Rockies take on the Washington Nationals at 7 p.m. at Coors Field. Colorado State is competing against CU and Coloradans for Nebraska to win the challenge. Two pre-game receptions specifically for Ram fans will begin at 5 p.m. The reception for families is at the Tavern Downtown located at 1946 Market St. (across from Coors Field). The reception for young alumni will be held at the Whiskey Bar at 2203 Larimer St. Game tickets are $25 per person and include: game ticket (face value is $24); T-shirt (kid sizes are available); pre-game reception; and a $10 food and beverage voucher for the game. – Monday, Aug. 27: Join Colorado State alums and fans for the CSU Showdown Classic Golf Tournament, a four-person scramble at the Lakewood Country Club, 6800 W. 10th Ave., Lakewood, at 1 p.m. Cost is $200 per person, and the event is organized by BE CSU and the Denver Ram Network.
