Media Advisory: Colorado State University President Larry Penley to Speak on Bioscience Panel

WHAT/WHEN:

Larry Edward Penley, president of Colorado State University, will speak on a panel at the Colorado BioScience Association’s BizBio event on Tuesday, Aug. 28. His panel on "The Paths of Innovation" is from 2:15-3:15 p.m.

The Colorado BioScience Association is hosting the event in conjunction with regional and state economic development organizations to address how government and business can work together to create a positive climate for bioscience industries. Penley will join industry representatives and CU Chancellor Bud Peterson on the panel.

The event will be in the Grand Ballroom of the Denver Athletic Club, 1325 Glenarm Place, Denver.

Colorado State University is an international leader in the area of bioscience research. Building on more than 35 years of excellence in biomedical research, Colorado State this year has named two innovative Superclusters in infectious disease and cancer. The university created NeoTrex as the business enterprise dedicated to speeding life-saving cancer research from the academic world into the commercial marketplace; MicroRx is the business enterprise to commercialize research on infectious disease. Additionally, Colorado State has joined with the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center and the University of Northern Colorado to open the state’s first school of public health in 2008.
