Colorado State University’s Annual Homecoming Race Slated for Oct. 6

Colorado State University’s annual homecoming 5K race will be held at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, beginning at the Colorado State University Oval to benefit the Heart Disease Prevention program in the university’s Department of Health and Exercise Science.

This year marks the 27th anniversary of the race, which is sponsored by the department. More than 1,200 runners and walkers are expected to participate.

A kid’s fun-run event also will be held at 8:45 a.m. immediately after the 5K. Children younger than 7 years old will run one lap around the Oval, and children 8 to 12 years old will participate in a two-lap race. More than 300 children are expected for this year’s event, and Cam the Ram will be on hand to start the race.

Race registration is $20 by Friday, Sept. 28, or $25 after that date until Friday, Oct. 5. Registration on race day is $30. The entry fee includes a custom long-sleeve T-shirt. Groups of 20 or more registering together are $18 each.

Race sponsors include gold level sponsors at $5,000 from Triple Crown Sports, Poudre Valley Health Systems, ReMax First Associates, Heart Center of the Rockies and the Colorado State University Youth Sport Camps. Silver level sponsor at $2,500 is Miramont Sport Center. Bronze level sponsors at $1,000 include Colorado State University Bookstore, Gay and Karan Israel, Markley Motors, The Egg and I, Norlarco Credit Union, the Orthopedic Center of the Rockies, PLS Homes, Dell, the Attack Pack, Ren and Sharon Jensen and Smith Investments.
