Martin Shields, regional economist for northern Colorado, will discuss the contracting housing market and the unease in global financial markets in his 2008 economic forecast at the first Colorado State University Regional Economic Summit and Forecast in Fort Collins on Oct. 4.
The event will be 1-5:30 p.m. at the Marriott Hotel, 350 E. Horsetooth Road, Fort Collins. Registration will be accepted through Conference Services at (970) 491-7501 through Tuesday, Oct. 2, or at the event Thursday. Cost is $64.
The summit is co-hosted by the Colorado State University Office of Economic Development and the Northern Colorado Economic Development Corp., which collaborate to promote economic development in northern Colorado. Business, education and government leaders will be in attendance at the event to hear from Shields as well as CSU President Larry Edward Penley and industry leaders in the area of health care and clean energy.
Maury Dobbie, chief executive officer of the Northern Colorado Economic Development Corp. will open the summit at 1 p.m.
