Media Advisory/Photo Opportunity: Asce, Csu College of Engineering to Offer Engineering Badge Day

WHO/WHAT:

Colorado State University’s College of Engineering and the American Society of Civil Engineers Northern Colorado branch will offer Engineering Badge Day, a half-day program for Webelo dens to complete all the requirements to earn the Engineer badge.

WHEN/WHERE:

Engineering Badge Day will begin in the Physics Lecture Hall on the CSU-Fort Collins campus on Saturday, Oct. 20. Due to high demand in past years, two sessions will be offered. The morning session will start at 8 a.m. ending at noon, and the afternoon session will start at 12:30 p.m. ending at 4:30 p.m.

DETAILS:

Each den will go through five stations and have the opportunity to get hands-on experience with surveying equipment, bridge-building computer software and catapults. The Webelos will also learn about and discuss electricity generation and electrical circuits.

Professional engineer volunteers and student volunteers from the College of Engineering will be present.

The American Society of Civil Engineers is a national organization that represents and promotes civil engineering. The Northern Colorado branch of ASCE is an active professional organization with more than 550 members in northern Colorado.  

Cost is $5.00 per Webelo. An adult must attend with each den.
