Colorado State Journalism Professor Honored by Institute for Public Relations

The Institute for Public Relations announced that Kirk Hallahan, journalism professor at Colorado State University, is the recipient of the 2007 Pathfinder Award for his outstanding scholarly contributions to professional knowledge.

The Pathfinder Award includes a $2,000 grant.

Hallahan joined the faculty of Colorado State in the Department of Journalism and Technical Communication in 1996. His scholarly record includes nearly 30 refereed journal articles and book chapters. He has focused his recent research on the application of online technologies to public relations practice.

A former practitioner with 19 years of professional experience, he entered his second career in public relations education in 1991. He taught at the University of North Dakota before coming to Colorado State and received his doctorate in mass communications at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  

The Institute for Public Relations is an independent non-profit organization that bridges the academy and the profession, supporting PR research and mainstreaming this knowledge into practice through PR education.
