Chef Series at Colorado State University Features Sushi Demo Nov. 14

Colorado State University Dining Services is hosting a Sushi Chef Series event from 4:45-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at Parmelee Dining Center.

Professional sushi chef Ken Minkes, who trained at Suehiro in Fort Collins, will demonstrate proper techniques for rolling sushi, and students will have the opportunity to taste rolls.

Chef Minkes has been hired by Colorado State’s Housing and Dining Services to prepare rolls and Nigiri pieces that are sold at Durrell Express and Allison Cafe.

The sushi menu includes California Rolls, Avocado Rolls, Veggie Rolls, Smoked Salmon Rolls, Shrimp Nigiri and Krab Nigiri. Sushi boxes are made fresh daily and can be purchased with Convenience Account Dollars or cash.

The Chef Series offers culinary lessons for students with meal plans and is taught by Housing and Dining Services executive chefs, pastry chefs and nutritionists.

Chef Series events this year include Healthy Cooking Classes, Truffle Making, Cupcake Decorating, Edible Holiday Gifts and Sushi Demos. The chef series is open to all students with a meal plan for one meal swipe.
