High School Students, Community Invited to Learn About Majors, Careers in Engineering at Csu Feb. 9

High school students, their parents and community members can learn about engineering majors and careers at Colorado State University’s Engineering Exploration Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be in the Engineering Building and the Lory Student Center on Colorado State’s Fort Collins campus, with the opening session in the student center’s East/Middle Ballroom.

Engineering Exploration Day participants view laboratory demonstrations including robotics and electronics, discuss engineering majors and careers with faculty and learn about undergraduate life at Colorado State. Engineering professors will describe the university’s chemical and biological, civil and environmental, electrical and computer, engineering science and mechanical engineering programs.

Engineering students will share their experiences and answer participants’ questions in the afternoon. Additionally, a session geared primarily to assisting women and minority students in engineering will be offered.

Scholarships, advising and the university’s financial aid program also will be discussed.
