Learn a Semester’s Worth of Foreign Language Classes in Three Weeks at Colorado State During Summer 2008

A three-week language immersion course for beginners will be offered at Colorado State University this summer from June 16 to July 3. Students will be learning a semester’s worth of foreign language material in an intensive three-week span.

CSU’s Foreign Languages and Literatures Language department and the Culture Study Center are offering Arabic, Spanish, Chinese and American Sign Language courses this summer. This is the first time an American Sign Language course will be provided during the summer.

Students enrolled in the class will learn to engage in conversations, gather information and express feelings and opinions in the language they select. Coursework also will include multimedia materials, one-on-one work with conversation partners and trips to local centers, museums and restaurants. Activities included in the immersion courses in the past included salsa dancing lessons, karaoke singing, a fashion show, potluck meals and cooking lessons.

The immersion courses will be held from at 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Participants will receive five course credits.

Registration for the course is now open, and details about the registration process are at www.summer.colostate.edu.
