Colorado State University Business Professor Receives Top Educator Award

Tom Ingram, marketing chairman and professor in the College of Business, received the Distinguished Sales Educator Award from the University Sales Center Alliance at the recent National Conference in Sales Management in Dallas.

The award recognizes exceptional sales and marketing educators for their long-term contributions to the quality and advancement of sales and sales management education. The Alliance is a consortium of sales centers located at universities throughout the United States whose goal is to advance the sales discipline.

"I argue that there is no one individual in the field of marketing with a reputation for higher integrity, humility and fairness than Tom Ingram," said Ajay Menon, dean of the College of Business. "Despite his many accomplishments, Tom always finds time to help and guide people early in their careers."

A professor and an author of many sales and marketing textbooks, Ingram has mentored College of Business students about the profession since 1995. His contributions have been recognized by the Mu Kappa Tau National Marketing Honor Society, and in 1990, he was named Marketing Educator of the Year by the Sales and Marketing Executives International.

Ingram is the co-author of one of the "10 Most Influential Articles of the 20th Century" as determined by the Sales and Sales Management Special Interest Group of the American Marketing Association. In his career, Ingram has written more than 60 journal articles and several marketing textbooks.

Ingram has advanced the profession as an editor for two international journals and has served on the Board of Directors for Sales and Marketing Executives International.
