Open Your Mind on Earth Day at Colorado State University April 22

The fourth annual Open Your Mind Fair will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.  April 22, Earth Day, on the Lory Student Center Plaza at Colorado State University.

The Open Your Mind Fair, sponsored by CSU’s University Counseling Center,  provides students ways to expand, express and protect themselves as well as learning to live  "green."  The event will feature live entertainment, interactive displays and free prizes.

"The event provides opportunities for students to learn more about how to expand, express and protect their minds," said Pam McCracken, director of Outreach and Prevention Services at the UCC. "Students have the chance to express appreciation for themselves and the environment, focus on safe behaviors and increase awareness about healthy activities. Our hope is that we increase awareness about the resources UCC offers to students as they work to achieve academic success. We also will be announcing the winner of the Safe 89 ‘I love My DD’ campaign."

"Express Yourself" will focus on ways students can express appreciation for themselves and the environment through art, dance and culture. Plant a seed, experiment with slack lining, yoga, bowling and get a free bike tune up.

"Protect Yourself" will focus on safe behaviors students can engage in to stay healthy and protect the earth. Creative ways to reduce stress will be provided along with alcohol and depression screening, and UCC counselors will be on hand to answer questions.

"Expand Yourself" will focus on activities to increase awareness about healthy activities and lessening the carbon footprint.  Meet with experts for a relationship check-up. Watch a Tai Chi demonstration and learn how to care for the  mind through nutrition and healthy alternatives.
