Media Advisory: Colorado State University Hurricane Forecast Team to Issue 2008 Hurricane Forecast Verification on Wednesday, Nov. 19

Where/When:

Phil Klotzbach and William Gray of the Colorado State University Hurricane Forecast Team will issue their end-of-the-season report on Wednesday, Nov. 19, not on Nov. 24 as originally planned.

Details:

Each year, the team issues a roundup of the year’s hurricane season, which officially runs from June 1 through November 30. Gray and his Colorado State team have provided seasonal Atlantic basin hurricane forecasts for 25 years. Until Gray began developing his forecast model in the early 1980s, there were no objective methods for predicting whether forthcoming hurricane seasons were likely to be active, inactive or near average.
