Four Finalists Named for College of Agricultural Sciences Dean at Colorado State

Four finalists have been named in the search for a new dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences at Colorado State University. On-campus interviews with students, faculty and staff will be held for each candidate. Additional forums will be held with Colorado agricultural commodity representatives, growers and ranchers.

The four finalists are Sonny Ramaswamy, associate dean of agriculture and director of agricultural research programs, Purdue University; Kevin Heinz, chairman, Department of Entomology, Texas A&M University; Ken Odde, chairman, Department of Animal Sciences and Industry, Kansas State University; and Craig Beyrouty, chairman, Department of Agronomy, Purdue University.

"The search committee is very pleased with the caliber of applicants for the position of dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences," said Lance Perryman, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and chairman of the search committee. Perryman said the search committee will finalize its report following the series of candidate interviews. The report will be submitted to Colorado State Interim President Anthony A. Frank and Interim Provost Rick Miranda the last week of February. Plans call for a new dean of the college to assume duties on or around July 1.

The successful candidate will replace Marc Johnson, who left Colorado State in June 2008 for a similar position at the University of Nevada-Reno. Lee Sommers, associate dean for research in the College of Agricultural Sciences, has been serving as interim dean.
