Colorado State University’s Off-Campus Student Services Housing Fair Set for March 4
Colorado State University’s Off-Campus Student Services annual Housing Fair takes place 9 a.m.-4 p.m. March 4 in the Main Ballroom of the Lory Student Center. This year’s fair is several weeks earlier than in years past when the event was held after spring break.
"Having the Housing Fair earlier in the semester enables students to get a head start on the search for off-campus housing," said Jeannie Ortega, director of Off-Campus Student Services. The change is an effort to help assist the student body at CSU in finding and securing off-campus housing before places begin to fill up. The decision to change the date came from student feedback indicating that earlier in March coincides better with their rental search process.
The theme for this year’s Housing Fair is "Go Green with a New Home." The idea behind the theme is to showcase how landlords, property management companies and services in the rental industry are supporting or promoting going green in their rentals and businesses.
"Students at Colorado State University are very committed to sustainability," Ortega said. "This is a great opportunity for vendors to showcase their support of going green – from offering a variety of recycling programs on their sites to using green products and offering green giveaways as part of their booth displays." Ortega also said information will be available on how students can be green at home and at Colorado State.
The 2009 Housing Fair is an effort to promote sustainable living, give students the opportunity to find housing and offer students tips on how to be "green renters." Along with useful information that will be provided at the housing fair, there will be a grand prize giveaway of a CSU Cruiser bicycle from Lee’s Cyclery that students can enter to win on the day of the fair.
