Citizen’s Police Academy at CSU Begins Sept. 17

The fourth annual Citizen’s Police Academy, hosted by the Colorado State University Police Department and the Division of Student Affairs, will begin on Thurs., Sept. 17.
The academy offers an opportunity to the CSU community to learn more about law enforcement. This academy does not require any previous knowledge of law enforcement or any special physical abilities.

The academy consists of 11 classes and concludes with graduation on Thurs., Dec. 3. Classes will be held every Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m., excluding Thanksgiving Day. Classes will take place in the CSUPD Training Room at Green Hall and other locations, including one four-hour Saturday class for firearms training at a gun range.

Fifteen students and five employees will be admitted into the academy. Student applicants must be at least a sophomore at Colorado State University and have a 2.5 GPA. All applicants must be free of felony and misdemeanor convictions and agree to a limited background investigation.
