Colorado State University Issues Annual Safety Information

The Colorado State University Police Department has published its annual safety guidelines and statistics.

The report outlines resources such as information about building security, how to report a crime, bike and traffic safety, crime prevention and preventing identity theft. It also outlines policies including the university’s timely warning policy, drug and alcohol policy, and student rights and responsibilities and victim’s rights.
In addition, the report provides arrest and contact statistics for CSUPD and the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution.

“I hope our campus community will take a few minutes to review the valuable safety information that is included in this booklet,” said Wendy Rich-Goldschmidt, chief of the Colorado State University Police Department. “The safety of our campus community is our first priority. It is my hope that people will work in concert with the police department to maintain a safe and secure environment.”

A downloadable PDF of the full report is available at http://police.colostate.edu/CrimeStats.htm. This report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Colorado State University. A hard copy may be requested at website listed above or by calling the CSU Police Department at (970) 491-6425. The Safety Update and University Drug and Alcohol Policy booklet is available to anyone requesting a copy.

The report is issued each fall in accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Crime Statistics Act. The act is a federal law that requires colleges and universities to disclose information on security policies and timely, annual information about crime on and around campus.

The CSU Police Department is also required by Megan’s Law to notify the university community about where public information regarding registered sex offenders can be obtained. A current listing of sex offenders is available at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation website at http://sor.state.co.us/.
