‘Support The Fort’ Through Colorado Combined Campaign

October 19 kicks off the Colorado Combined Campaign, the annual campus fund-raising event. The theme of the campaign, which runs through November 20, is “Support the Fort.” This drive is the only way Colorado state employees are contacted for charitable giving through their workplace.

Each year, Colorado State University ranks among the state’s leading campaign participants. In 2008, 431 CSU faculty and staff set a new record level of giving by contributing $151,796. The goal for 2009 is $160,000 from 500 employees.

“Last year, Colorado State University employees made more contributions to the Colorado Combined Campaign than ever before,” said President Tony Frank. “That means that in the spirit of the tough economic times we face, our employees recognized the importance of giving to help all those who rely on charitable organizations and need our additional assistance. This level of giving speaks volumes about the Colorado State University community and the compassion and support we provide to others.”

CSU employees outpaced their counterparts at the University of Colorado-Boulder last year. CU-Boulder raised $151,141.

The Colorado Combined Campaign includes more than 750 charitable organizations across Colorado. Donations can be made through payroll deductions, credit cards, or by one-time check or cash donations.

Every donor is eligible to win a $500 gas card or one of thirty $50 gas certificates donated by Suncor. Donors who designate to the United Way of Larimer County at the minimum amount of at least $3/week will be eligible for entry into a raffle drawing for a two-year lease on a 2010 Subaru Forrester, donated by Dellenbach Motors. Other prizes are donated by the campus community and local businesses to encourage participation. Various local businesses and on-campus areas have contributed prizes. A few examples are: The Cupboard, Caninos, John’s Auto Shop, the CSU Bookstore, CVMBS, Athletics, CSU School of the Arts, Parking Services, and more to come!
