Colorado State University Day at the Colorado Garden and Home Show, Feb. 19

Colorado State University Day at the Colorado Garden and Home Show at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver will be this Friday, Feb. 19. The day includes talks by CSU Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture faculty members, alumni and friends garden party, performances by the a cappella group – Resonant Ramblings, and an appearance by mascot CAM the Ram.

Colorado State Extension Master Gardeners and other Extension personnel will also be on hand to answer questions and provide insights into Colorado’s occasionally difficult growing conditions.

The CSU Education Garden will have the latest landscaping products and techniques. The theme is gardening year round – with separate gardens for spring, summer, fall and winter. The Education Garden will show gardening activities that can take place, with special emphasis on vegetable gardening in each of these seasons.

Colorado State Extension Turfgrass Specialist Tony Koski will discuss organic products for lawns during a 2 p.m. talk in the Demonstration Theater.

At 4 p.m. in the Demonstration Theater, find “The Best Plants for Western Gardens” at a presentation by Professor Jim Klett, coordinator of the CSU Trial Gardens and the Plant Select program.

Colorado State University Alumni Association is hosting a garden party for alumni and friends beginning at 2 p.m., CAM the Ram will arrive at the garden party at 3:30 p.m., and Resonant Ramblings will perform at 3:30 p.m. at the garden party and 5:15 p.m. in the main lobby of the Convention Center.

The Colorado Garden Show is a nonprofit organization that provides funds for horticulture-related grants and scholarships. Over the past 15 years, Colorado State University and Colorado Garden Show have partnered on many projects including youth sciences programs for students, outdoor classrooms at the Plant Select Garden in Jefferson County, and the Annual Flower Trial Gardens near the CSU campus.

The Colorado Garden and Home show continues through Sunday, Feb. 21 at the Colorado Convention Center, 700 14th St., Denver.
