CSU Board Appoints New CSU-Global President

The Colorado State University System Board of Governors this week officially appointed Becky Takeda-Tinker, Ph.D. as the first president of CSU-Global Campus, effective immediately. Takeda-Tinker was a sole finalist for the position, and she will be the first female president of a CSU campus.

Takeda-Tinker has been with CSU-Global Campus since 2008 where she has been the Dean of Academic Affairs and a faculty member for master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Organizational Leadership and Business Management. Takeda-Tinker has also done work in course development and instruction with other regionally accredited universities in both the private and public sectors of higher education. She has led publicly-held and private technology and service companies, and has served as a private equity partner and financial services business owner. Takeda-Tinker currently serves on the board of directors of the global Leadership Foundation for the International Women’s Forum. She has served on the boards of the Foundation for an Independent Tomorrow , Southern Nevada’s Make-A-Wish Foundation, the National Association of Women Business Owners of Southern Nevada, and the Founder’s Circle for University of Nevada Las Vegas, Black Mountain Institute. Takeda-Tinker holds a doctoral degree in organization and management with a specialization in leadership from Capella University, an MBA in Finance from Santa Clara University, a post-graduate certificate in marketing management from the University of California-Berkeley and a bachelor’s in economics from UCLA.

CSU-Global Campus offers guaranteed admission for students who have an associate’s degree from an accredited college and guaranteed tuition rates for continuously enrolled students through graduation. It also is offering discounted tuition rates for military service men and women and their family members.

In 2007, the CSU System Board of Governors took an innovative step in expanding the Systems’ ability to provide a high quality, affordable, and accessible higher education to all Coloradans through the creation of CSU-Global Campus, which is a non-state funded online university.

“As an online university, CSU-Global has all the key components needed to enable the CSU System to serve non-traditional adult students throughout Colorado and the world,” said Joe Blake CSU System chancellor. “Becky has the experience and enthusiasm to take full advantage of CSU-Global’s opportunities.”

CSU- Global Campus provides quality programs that are career-relevant at a reasonable cost, on a convenient platform unrestricted by time and place. CSU-Global’s mission serves Colorado and its citizens by enabling them to complete their Bachelors degree or earn their Masters degree to help build a stronger future for Colorado.

The Colorado State University System comprises three campuses with very distinct roles and missions. The campuses serve the state, region, country, and world, educating about 31,000 new and returning scholars annually. Highly skilled graduates number more than 7,300 a year, and more than 198,000 alumni live throughout the state, nation and world. The system involves a total operating budget of $800 million, with annual research expenditures totaling $328 million.
