Colorado State University Names New Alumni Association Executive Committee, Board of Directors Members

The Colorado State University Alumni Association has announced its new executive committee and several additions to its board of directors. The new appointees begin a three-year term; executive committee members will serve through the 2010-2011 school year.

Appointed to the new CSU Alumni Association executive committee:

Mark Swanson, president – Swanson graduated in 1986 with a degree in agricultural business and earned his master’s degree in business administration in 2004. He is now the chief executive officer of Birko Corp., a food safety company that specializes in sanitation chemical and solutions for food and beverage industries. Swanson serves on a variety of other CSU committees, including International Alumni and the Executive Master in Business Administration Committee.

Katie Denman, president-elect – Denman graduated with a degree in business administration in 2005 and is now a manager at Hitachi Consulting, an international technology management and consulting firm. She is an advisory member of the President’s Leadership Program at CSU and is active in the Denver Ram Network, a CSU alumni group.

Eric Berglund, vice president – Berglund graduated with a degree in business administration in 2004 and is the chief financial officer for Upstate Colorado Economic Development in Greeley. He volunteers with several local organizations, including Emerge Colorado, a young professionals networking club, and leadership committees in Weld County and Fort Collins.

Darshan Shah, executive committee member-at-large – Shah graduated in 1992 with a degree in electrical engineering and earned his master’s degree in electrical engineering in 2001. Shah is now the co-founder and president of Olixir Technologies, a data storage manufacturer located in Milpitas, Calif. Shah organizes CSU alumni engagements throughout California.

Sam Romano, executive committee member-at-large –Romano graduated with a degree in veterinary science in 1979 and earned his doctorate in veterinary medicine in 1983. Romano is a founding member of the Veterinary Referral Center of Colorado, which connects the owners of sick or injured animals with specialists in their area. Romano is the current president of the Denver Area Veterinary Medical Society.

Collis Sanders, immediate past president – Sanders graduated with a degree in finance and real estate in 1977. Sanders is the executive vice president of corporate banking at BBVA Compass in Houston, Texas, and is active in the Houston Ram Network, which hosts CSU alumni gatherings.

Appointed to the CSU Alumni Association board of directors:

Bo Bandy Goldstein – Goldstein graduated with a degree in technical journalism in 2004 and now works as the marketing and public relations director of ReadyTalk, a web-conferencing provider. She is involved with the Denver Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber 100. While at CSU, she was the president of the Public Relations Student Society of America and member of the Student Alumni Connection.

Jack Capp – Capp graduated with a degree in wildlife management in 1965 and earned a master’s degree in fishery and wildlife biology in 1967. Capp worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 38 years before retirement. He is an international conservation consultant with METI Inc. Capp was the founding president of the CSU chapter of the Wildlife Society during his time at CSU.

Brady Welsh – Welsh graduated with a degree in business administration in 1999 and is now a commercial real estate broker at Bitzer Real Estate Partners. He was the 2009-2010 president of the Denver Ram Network.
