Colorado State University Recognized for Providing Education to Colorado Army National Guard

Colorado State University’s Continuing Education program was honored with the presentation of a plaque and American flag to recognize the educational opportunities it provided to the Colorado Army National Guard. The flag was flown over Camp Ramadi in Al Anbar Province, Iraq, and presented to Colorado State for “support of our service members while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom.”

From 2006-2010, Colorado State Continuing Education offered a special cohort of its Organizational Performance and Change Master of Education in Education and Human Resource Studies to 70 military personnel, some of whom served in Iraq while working to earn their degrees. Colorado State University faculty commuted weekly from Fort Collins to deliver the program on site at the National Guard headquarters in Centennial, Colo.

Captain Ashkan Angha presented the award to Colorado State faculty and staff from the Continuing Education office. He spoke of his personal experience and the impact that the university’s alternative educational offerings had on his ability to earn a degree while serving his country.

“I really appreciate that you brought the program to us at work, and that you allowed those of us who were mobilized during the program to complete our projects from Iraq,” Angha said. “The exceptional service and academics provided by Colorado State sets an example for others.”

“It was a privilege to offer the Organizational Performance and Change Master’s degree program to soldiers and military personnel at the Colorado Army National Guard,” said Pam Nicholson, program director for Colorado State University. “Our dedicated faculty worked hard to provide a superior educational experience by offering their program on site at the National Guard and by managing the challenges of military deployments. It is an honor for us to be recognized for our outreach efforts by the Colorado Army National Guard.”
