Fashion Group International Hosts Annual Winter Fashion Show

Colorado State University’s Fashion Group International student chapter hosts its annual winter fashion show, “Behind the Seams: Backstage Exposed,” showcasing CSU student designs as well as a ‘dress for less’ portion where students have styled an outfit from recycled/reused clothes for under $30. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Sunset Event Center, 242 Linden Street.

This year’s fashion show also will continue to include a 48 hour student design competition. Students who participate in this competition have 48 hours to design and complete a garment for the show. The garment must adhere to a given scenario using the provided materials. All of the student designs will be judged according to quality and style by faculty members in the Department of Design and Merchandising. Prizes will be given to winners in various categories.

This year’s event will be supporting a non-profit organization, Falling Whistles. Falling Whistles is a campaign for peace in Congo. Models will wear whistles around their neck during the show.

Many Fashion Group International student chapter members at CSU major in programs offered in the Department of Design and Merchandising. The department is part of the College of Applied Human Sciences.

Tickets will be sold at the door: $8 for the public and $6 for students with a student I.D. For more information, contact Caitlin Henry at (785) 443-1781 or cthcait@rams.colostate.edu.
