Recycled Goods Featured in Colorado State University Student Fashion Show

Colorado State University’s student members of Fashion Group International of Denver are presenting an annual recycled fashion show, “The Adventures of Super Chic: Helping Save the Planet One Recycled Garment at a Time…”

The fashion show starts at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at the Sunset Event Center, 242 Linden St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 for general admission and $5 for students. Tickets are available at the door on the night of the event, and all ages are welcome.

The show consists of three categories: dress for less, general submission, and garments inspired by superhero characters from comic books. General submission and superhero-inspired garments are made with at least 70 percent recyclable materials such as bottle caps, plastic bags and newspapers. The dress-for-less category requires the designer to put together an outfit with accessories from second-hand clothing stores costing no more than $30.

This year’s event showcases original designs of CSU students, both apparel design and merchandising majors and non-majors. This is a chance for students to use their creative skills and support CSU as a green university. Intriguing designs will inspire a little more “green” in spring wardrobes.

“The Adventures of Super Chic: Helping Save One Recycled Garment at a Time…” is sponsored by the Department of Design and Merchandising in the College of Applied Human Sciences.

The show is entirely coordinated by student members of Fashion Group International of Denver. Students gain firsthand experience in event planning, stage décor and promotion.
