Colorado State University Celebrates Cinch Jeans Rocky Mountain Showdown in Denver Sept. 16-17

Colorado State University invites CSU Ram fans, alumni and friends to events in Denver Sept. 16-17 in preparation for the Cinch Jeans Rocky Mountain Showdown between the Colorado State University Rams and the University of Colorado Buffalos. This year’s match-up is the 83rd meeting between CSU and CU and will take place at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Following is a list of CSU events during the week and weekend.

Thursday, Sept. 15

Bleed Green & Gold Blood Drive
8 a.m.–1:30 p.m., CSU Denver Center, 475 17th Street
Join CSU in giving back to the community with the Annual Bleed Green and Gold Blood Drive benefitting Children’s Hospital. Donation spaces are limited. To register online, visit www.bonfils.org. For more information about registration, call the CSU Alumni Association at 303-376-2624.

Friday, Sept. 16

Denver Ram Rally on the 16th Street Mall
11 a.m.-1 p.m., Skyline Park (16th at Arapahoe) Downtown Denver
Join Colorado State University on the 16th Street Mall and in Skyline Park for the CSU showcase and noontime pep rally and enter for a chance to win two tickets to the Cinch Jeans Rocky Mountain Showdown football game against CU. The showcase will feature games, giveaways, booths and displays from the university.

CBS 4’s Dominic Garcia will emcee the noon pep rally featuring Coach Tom Hilbert and the CSU Volleyball Team, CAM the Ram, CSU Pep Band and Spirit Squad and former CSU football players. During the rally, the winner of the Cinch Jeans Rocky Mountain Showdown ticket drawing will be announced. The winner must be present in order to claim the prize.

BRAVA! Pizzeria and Lannies Porch (16th and Arapahoe on the south end of Skyline Park) are teaming up to offer great lunch specials for all Ram fans. Coupons for $1 off all wood-fired pizzas from BRAVA! will be available exclusively at the CSU Showcase, Lannies Porch will offer $2 Pabst Blue Ribbon beers, and the Denver Cupcake truck will be onsite handing out free cupcakes to the first 150 fans. Vitamin Water and Office Max also will be on hand with free giveaways.

Grill the Buffs Student Rally
10:45 a.m., Lory Student Center Plaza on the CSU campus
Get ready to battle the Buffs at this free event brought to you by the Associated Students of Colorado State University (ASCSU). Beginning at 10:45 a.m., the CSU marching band, the Spirit Squad, coaches and players will lead the rally.

Ram Rally in Downtown Denver
5:30 – 8 p.m., Katie Mullen’s, 1550 Court Place, Downtown Denver
Ram Fans will take over downtown Denver to kickoff the Cinch Jeans Rocky Mountain Showdown weekend on Friday, Sept. 16. Join Colorado State VIPs, CAM the Ram, cheerleaders and hundreds of fans for a pep rally for the adults of Denver, complete with free food, great drink specials and lots of giveaways. Saturday, September 17

Official CSU Pregame Rally
9-11 a.m., Sports Authority Field at Mile High, west parking lot
Registration is encouraged but not required. Cash bar will be available.
• Ram Rally Only – no meal: FREE
• Ram Rally plus buffet brunch: $25 for Alumni Association members; $30 for non members; $15 for children under the age of 12
• The band Soul School, starring Sethe Tucker (’97), will perform.
• Program to include Alumni Association Director Colleen Meyer, Director of Athletics Paul Kowalczyk and CSU President Tony Frank.
• CAM the Ram (two-legged and four-legged) will be available for photos.
• Inflatables and games
• Band and cheerleaders

Cinch Jean Rocky Mountain Showdown
