CSU’s College of Business Maintains Prestigious AACSB Business Accreditation

The College of Business at Colorado State University has maintained its business accreditation by AACSB International — the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Only 643 schools of business, or less than 5 percent worldwide, have earned this distinguished hallmark of excellence in management education.

To maintain accreditation, a business program must undergo rigorous internal review every five years, where a program must demonstrate its continued commitment to the 21 quality standards relating to faculty qualification, strategic management of resources, interactions of faculty and students and a commitment to continuous improvement and achievement of learning goals in degree programs.

Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in business and accounting.

“It takes a great deal of self-evaluation and determination to earn and maintain AACSB Accreditation,” said Jerry Trapnell, vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “Schools not only must meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty and staff must make a commitment to ongoing improvement to ensure continued delivery of high-quality education to students.”

The College of Business at CSU is the top-ranked public business school in Colorado, and CSU’s accounting graduates have the highest pass rates for the CPA exam in the state. The MBA program is highlighted by Princeton Review among the top in the nation and is internationally ranked for sustainability. The College’s entrepreneurship faculty are ranked third nationally in entrepreneurship research.

“Maintaining our accreditation from AACSB is outstanding news,” said Ajay Menon, dean of CSU’s College of Business. “Their report is independent and based on an external review, so all of us at the College of Business have much to be proud of. As we continue our journey of excellence, our college will remain successful as long as we stay committed to high performance standards and value the human relationships that form the basis of our culture and climate.”

CSU’s achievement will be recognized April 29–May 1 at the 2012 AACSB International Conference and Annual Meeting in San Diego, Calif.
