Colorado State University Student Group Hosts High-Heeled Walk for Charity

Students in Colorado State University’s Department of Design and Merchandising and student members of Fashion Group International of Denver are hosting a high-heeled relay walk to benefit the Able Women’s Career Closet. “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” starts at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 15, and all participants – males and females – are encouraged to wear high heels for the walk.

The walk will take place around the Oval on Colorado State’s campus. The event is open to the public, and all ages are welcome.

The Able Women’s Career Closet is a non-profit organization that works with government agency-referred women to provide them with business and job interview-appropriate clothing. The closet aims to boost women’s self-esteem as they enter the workplace.

The event also will include live music, family activities and a raffle drawing. Free refreshments will be served by sponsors.

Individuals or teams of four can register for the event. Team members will take turns walking two laps around the Oval in relay style. In addition to wearing high heels and comfortable clothes, participants also are encouraged to dress in playful and fun costumes. While high heels are not required, participants should wear shoes with at least a minimal heel. Prizes will be given to people wearing the highest heels, funkiest heels and best team costume.

Advanced registration is available at the Lory Student Center Campus Box office or at CSUtix.com. Pre-registration tickets are $30 for teams of four and $10 for individual registration. The Campus Box Office accepts major credit cards or cash, as well as all major credit cards at CSUtix.com. Walk-day registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Oval, and tickets are $35 for teams of four and $12 for individuals.

The Fashion Group International Student Chapter has also paired with Junior League of Fort Collins for the event.
