Colorado State University College of Business Open House Features New Institute for Entrepreneurship and Expanded Career Management Center

Promoting venture creation, the new Institute for Entrepreneurship will be unveiled at Colorado State University’s College of Business open house. The open house will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16 at Rockwell Hall-West in the lower level atrium. The event is free and open to the public.

The Institute for Entrepreneurship will provide information about the new programs and coursework offered through the institute. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about services and events planned for the coming year. Institute staff will discuss opportunities for attendees to speak in classes or workshops, and they will provide information about how to become an advisor, mentor or volunteer for the institute.

The College of Business’ recently expanded Career Management Center, CMC, also will be available for tours during the open house. The CMC has added four new staff members this year and moved to a new, larger facility and improved student resources for job readiness and placement.

“This is a great opportunity for a diverse crowd to come together and see the variety of ways we help students prepare for their futures,” said Sue Schell, director of the CMC. “Whether students have a desire to go the entrepreneurial or small, start-up route or they prefer internships and recruitment from larger businesses, the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Career Management Center are both great resources that connect students with different opportunities to start their careers.”

Student-guided tours of the new CMC facilities will allow visitors to watch the new streaming video, see the student work area and computers with specialized software to help students prepare resumes and learn more about various virtual tools used to reach students. Information will be available about how the center assists students with successful lifetime career management skills and how they can participate.

The event is open to members of the business community but an RSVP is requested. Refreshments including drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be available. Please visit http://transition.biz.colostate.edu/RSVP/EntrepreneurshipOpenHouse.aspx.
