CSU Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers to Share Science with Kids at Noche De Ciencias Oct. 29

The Colorado State University Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers is teaming up with Rocky Mountain High School students to engage elementary kids in the sciences at Noche De Ciencias or “Night of Science” at 6 p.m. Oct. 29 at the high school.

First through sixth graders and their parents are invited to participate in bilingual science and engineering workshops.

This event is free and open to Rocky Mountain High School feeder elementary schools. Children and their parents are encouraged to learn about the sciences in a fun, comfortable environment.

Noche De Ciencias aims to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics or STEM in a relaxed, fun environment. The evening will include bilingual workshops for parents to build awareness of college opportunities for their young ones.

“SHPE changes lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize their fullest potential and impacts the world through STEM awareness, access, support and development,” said Trevor Aguirre, vice president of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and an engineering student at CSU.

The CSU Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers is one of 21 student chapters in region three of the United States. This region is the largest geographical of the seven national SHPE regions. Events such as Noche De Ciencias work to promote the program and increase involvement in STEM in early education.
