Colorado State University Dining Services Welcomes New Senior Executive Chef

Colorado State University Residential Dining Services is proud to announce and welcome Peter Testory as the new senior executive chef.

Testory joins the CSU team from the University of Illinois where he worked in several different positions including chef, unit manager, and co-manager of the CBORD menu management system. At CSU, Testory will be directly responsible for developing new menus and managing food production for the six dining centers and two express locations on campus. One of his goals while at CSU is to increase the local procurement percentage while remaining fiscally responsible.

“To me the enjoyment of cooking is seeing the gratification on everyone’s face while they are eating. Food can cheer people up, and bring them together, and the creativity allowed in this field is what I appreciate most as a professional,” Testory said. “In higher education dining, I feel it is our responsibility to help expand our students’ pallets with cuisine they may never have tried. When students enjoy new foods that we have introduced, that is truly rewarding.”

Testory has made himself quite at home at Colorado State, already introducing several new items into the menus of both the dining centers and retail facilities. The Dining Services Advisory Council, comprised of student representatives that serve as liaisons between the on-campus residents and the dining staff, have conveyed the students’ enthusiasm regarding the new additions that have been implemented by Testory in the past few months.

“We are delighted that Peter has joined our team” said Deon Lategan, director of Residential Dining at Colorado State. “Peter’s skill set is a good fit for our current needs, and his experience working at multiple levels in a campus dining environment allows him to see the bigger picture of how the facilities work and what can be improved upon.”

Colorado State University Residential Dining Services is an award-winning campus food service program that serves nearly 2 million meals each year and operates six all-you-care-to-eat dining facilities and two retail stores.
