CSU Center for Professional Development and Business Research Opens Registration for Spring 2013 Certificates

The Center for Professional Development and Business Research in the College of Business at Colorado State University announces open registration for spring 2013 certificates and programs for professionals and middle management positions in Denver and Front Range communities.

The College of Business continues to offer world-class educational opportunities to undergraduate, graduate and continuing education students. The center serves as a resource for working professionals to obtain business-specific skills and knowledge to gain the competitive edge in today’s workforce through discovery, networking and engagement.

The center’s line-up of certificates of completion for the spring includes renowned faculty in the College of Business, business practitioners and consultants in the areas of conflict management, leadership, marketing, supply chain, finance and technology.

Certificate in Supply Chain Management
Begins Jan. 30 in Denver
This certificate program is built around the topic of managing the supply chain that plans, sources, makes and delivers an organization’s goods and/or services from suppliers of raw materials through to the final customer. Participants will learn through a combination of lecture, discussion, simulation, case analysis and company application exercises.

Certificate in Strategic Organizational Leadership
Begins Feb. 15 in Loveland (The Ranch)
This certificate program contributes to the professional growth and development of leaders while engaging them in meaningful dialogue regarding the changing dynamics of the work environment. Five workshops cover a variety of topics, including leading strategic initiatives in a complex and rapidly changing organizational environment and workplace challenges facing today’s leaders in areas as such as inclusion, diversity, power and politics and change strategy.

Certificate in Mediation and Conflict Resolution
Feb. 27 and 28 in Denver
The rules of engagement-conflict is a growing industry and with a rash of downsizing, rightsizing, capsizing, restructuring and retirements. In addition, condescending behavior, bullying and rudeness has led to conflict in the workplace. To address these types of issues, it is important for companies and professionals to equip themselves with proactive mediation and conflict resolution tools.

Certificate in Transformation Leadership
Begins Feb. 22 in Denver
Learn how you can become a leader who thrives in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world. This program is designed for professionals who seek a dynamic understanding of their leadership potential and how cultivation of leadership can lead to individuals becoming change-agents in their organizations, to their employees and for their cultural environments. Participants will learn the importance of understanding financials and how they can impact results, how to create a strategy for organizational change, an overview of contemporary transformational change and much more.

Technology Leadership Development Program Certificate
Begins Jan. 18 in Denver
This program offers essential training for technology professionals seeking to advance to leadership roles in their organizations. The certificate is designed as a management program to provide a development opportunity for technology leaders. The program will provide participants with a business orientation focused on strategy, operational excellence, innovation and creativity and financial management. Held monthly in downtown Denver the classes will be led by select faculty and co-facilitated by technology leaders. This will be a highly interactive program that will require a strong commitment to participation. The program in collaboration with CSU’s College of Business, the Society for Information Management, the Colorado Technology Association and the Rocky Mountain Information Management Association.

Wellness, Fitness, and Nutrition for Professionals Forum
March 2 in Loveland (The Ranch)
CSU’s College of Business will host author, physician and competitive bodybuilder Dr. Warren Willey along with other speakers on personal wellness through fitness and nutrition from on Sat., March 13 at The Ranch Larimer County Fairgrounds in Loveland. Registration for this forum will open in January 2013.

Certificate in the Art of Services Marketing: Understanding and Managing the Customer Experience
Begins April 19 in Loveland (The Ranch)
A world-class service culture begins with you. Learn the sources of competitive advantage in service business. This certificate creates a platform for participants to broaden their skill sets in: the unique challenges involved in marketing and managing services; the differences between the marketing of goods and the marketing of services; understanding, creating, and managing the "customer experience"; understanding and measuring customer satisfaction and service quality; practicing the art of service recovery; and developing a service culture. Through three sessions, participants will understand how "service" can be a competitive advantage in managing organizations.
